Anduril Industries is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the technical development of large autonomous air vehicles from conceptual design through detailed design, fabrication, flight test, production transition, and sustainment. This is a high-impact role combining deep technical expertise with program leadership.
You will own the end-to-end technical execution of air vehicle programs, working closely with customers, internal teams, export compliance, suppliers, and government stakeholders. The role begins with significant individual contributor work to initiate programs, evolving into team leadership as production capability develops.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing autonomous air vehicle designs in close coordination with customers and government partners
- Establishing technical and programmatic vision, assembling internal and external subject matter expert teams
- Leading system design, fabrication, test, productization, and sustainment efforts
- Conducting design trades and optimization while managing requirements, risk, schedule, and cost
- Coordinating prototype and low-rate production fabrication and subsystem/system-level testing
- Developing budgetary estimates and schedules with functional engineering teams
- Integrating foreign vendor engineering, manufacturing teams, and subsystems
- Understanding and applying sovereign military design standards and airworthiness processes
Required qualifications include 10+ years of professional aerospace/mechanical/electrical/software engineering experience, deep knowledge of unmanned aircraft (Group 3 class and above), proven success leading air vehicle programs from concept through customer delivery, and ability to obtain Dutch government security clearance. You must demonstrate strong system design thinking, strategic direction-setting in competitive environments, and proven collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
