Anduril Industries is seeking a Chief Digital Systems Engineer to lead the Multi-National Digital Infrastructure (MDI) team, which builds and sustains sovereign cloud, classified networks, edge compute, and coalition interoperability layers across nations and classification levels.
In this principal-level role, you will own the technical vision and architectural coherence for MDI's infrastructure globally. This is a hands-on position where you build and ship, setting standards through execution rather than documentation alone.
Key responsibilities include:
**Architectural Vision & Coherence**: Own end-to-end MDI technical architecture spanning sovereign cloud (IL5/IL6), classified bilateral networks, maritime C2 patterns, edge-to-cloud pipelines, and coalition interoperability. Manage architectural decisions across 8+ concurrent milestones, make technology selections driven by accreditation constraints, and drive the "build once, deploy per nation" model with intentional late divergence.
**Engineering Standards & Quality**: Define and enforce engineering practices including Infrastructure-as-Code, security baselines, deployment patterns, and peer review processes. Establish RFC-governed decision processes, translate national accreditation requirements (DCSA, IRAP/ISM, NCSC) into engineering work, and own reliability improvements with measurable targets.
**Scale & Reuse**: Build common infrastructure patterns enabling expansion to new nations and classification levels without proportional engineering effort. Own module libraries, deployment templates, and accreditation frameworks that prevent the bespoke patterns typical in defense.
**Team Leadership**: Provide technical direction for MDI's distributed engineering team across US, UK, and Australia. Mentor IC3-IC5 engineers, define hiring bar and skills frameworks, and establish cross-timezone collaboration patterns.
**Division Interface**: Represent MDI's technical capabilities to Maritime and Maneuver Dominance leadership, shape what's technically possible, and interface with adjacent technical teams.
Required qualifications include deep experience designing and building classified network infrastructure across multiple nations, hands-on sovereign cloud architecture implementation, COMSEC integration experience (HAIPE/KG-175X), demonstrated ability to set engineering standards for distributed teams, track record of building reusable infrastructure patterns, understanding of multinational compliance frameworks (DCSA/NIST, IRAP/ISM, NCSC), and experience as an architectural decision-maker.
Preferred experience includes AUKUS or Five Eyes defense industrial context, familiarity with bilateral/multilateral classified data sharing mechanisms, and background spanning both network engineering and cloud infrastructure.
