Mentor Collective is seeking a Business Development Representative to drive outbound growth in the higher education space. This is a frontline sales role focused on prospecting and qualifying leads for the Account Executive team. You will identify high-potential institutions matching our Ideal Customer Profile and initiate meaningful conversations through multi-channel outreach (cold calling, email, LinkedIn). Your core responsibilities include strategic prospecting, lead qualification based on Sales Ready criteria, and owning monthly/quarterly targets for qualified meetings and pipeline value. You'll leverage a modern tech stack including HubSpot, Gong, and AI tools to research prospects and craft personalized outreach. You'll conduct discovery conversations to understand institutional pain points around student success and career readiness, then qualify leads before handing off to Account Executives. You'll maintain meticulous CRM hygiene, manage 50+ daily activities, and collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing on events and Account Executives on account-based strategies. The role reports to the Director of Marketing. You'll use Gong's conversation intelligence to review your own calls and refine messaging based on sentiment data and connect rates. You'll also provide on-the-ground feedback to the Field Marketing Manager to improve overall messaging effectiveness. Requirements: 1+ years of sales, business development, or high-volume client-facing experience. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior academic leaders. Resilience to handle high rejection volumes while maintaining a hunter mindset. Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot/Salesforce preferred) and comfort using AI for research and administrative tasks. Strong organizational skills and coachability. Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Preferred: Genuine interest in higher education and student success challenges. Experience with Gong or LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Background in high-performance, accountability-driven environments. Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 base salary plus $25,000–$30,000 OTE (variable) annually. Full-time, exempt position. 100% remote with flexible schedule and ability to work while traveling. Comprehensive benefits include 5 medical plans (one 100% employer-covered), dental/vision, HSA/FSA, mental health therapy (Talkspace), One Medical membership, reproductive/gender-affirming care travel benefits, flexible PTO with minimum, 12 company holidays, winter break, 401(k) with match, and WFH office setup stipend.
