Flanks is a Barcelona-based fintech SaaS platform transforming wealth management for banks, family offices, and wealth managers. Founded in 2019 and backed by €23 million in funding, the company provides a unified view of clients' financial assets across disparate sources. As a Mid-Level Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize the data pipelines and backend services that power Flanks' data infrastructure. You'll own the full lifecycle of data ingestion and transformation—from understanding business requirements through production deployment—and directly shape the backend systems enabling data-driven decision-making. Key responsibilities include: - Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting and transforming data from multiple sources into core systems - Write clean, efficient Python code with focus on performance, optimal data structures, and algorithms for high-volume datasets - Collaborate on SQL and NoSQL database schema design and own query performance optimization - Implement unit tests, integration tests, and data quality checks to ensure pipeline integrity - Deploy and iterate on pipelines using CI/CD practices and containerization (Docker), participating in code reviews You should have strong Python and/or JavaScript skills with production-grade code quality, solid experience building and operating data pipelines (ETL/ELT patterns, orchestration, large-scale ingestion), and ideally exposure to Elasticsearch. SQL and NoSQL database familiarity, schema design, and query optimization experience are essential. You work autonomously, navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly, and contribute meaningfully from day one. CI/CD and containerization experience required. Importantly, you're curious about financial markets and willing to learn how financial data flows through systems—understanding formulas and financial context is critical to correctly ingesting, processing, and exposing data. Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required for collaboration in this bilingual environment. The company offers a permanent full-time contract, hybrid work with flexible hours, a Barcelona office with views, paid birthday day off, weekly fresh fruit and beverages, Friday happy hours, team-building events, health insurance via Alan, subsidized digital canteen (Kombo), and yearly training budget.
