Salary: USD 130,000 - 170,000 / annual
iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and implement systems powering the iCapital platform. You will build high-performance APIs and applications working closely with Product Management throughout the development lifecycle. The role involves designing cloud-native services using Python and Scala with open-source frameworks like FastAPI and ZIO, developing unit and integration tests, participating in code reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The platform operates on a microservices architecture with services built in Scala, Ruby, Node.js, and Python. While familiarity with these technologies is valuable, the company supports engineers in learning new tools on the job with mentorship from management and senior team members.
Key responsibilities include building cloud-native services, writing comprehensive tests using Scala Test, ZIO Test, and PyTest, active participation in stand-ups and peer code reviews as part of standard SDLC and change management processes.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, 6+ years of web-based application development, hands-on experience with Python, Scala, or Node.js, understanding of relational and NoSQL database concepts, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of SSO implementation is a plus.
