As a Backend Engineer, you will take a leadership role in achieving team goals and contributing to the overall design, architecture, development, quality, and production deployment of backend systems. You'll design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios that may be consumed by other teams.
Key responsibilities include collaborating effectively within your team and with cross-functional partners (Product, Design/UX, DevOps, other R&D teams), maintaining and improving engineering practices by suggesting and implementing technology enhancements, and proactively identifying areas for improvement in systems, processes, and scalability. You'll lead by example in code quality, contribute significantly to code reviews, and act as a focal point for engineering excellence. You'll also help monitor production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Required qualifications: 5–10 years of backend software engineering experience with demonstrated ability to navigate technical trade-offs and ambiguity. Strong proficiency in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented languages; hands-on experience with SQL Server and database management; experience with message queues or streaming platforms (RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka); strong unit testing and knowledge of design principles, data structures, and algorithms; microservices architecture experience; ability to design new functionality for complex components while maintaining scalability and performance; effective collaboration and communication skills; and a BSc/BE/B.Tech in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
Desirable: Agile development methodologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), non-relational databases (MongoDB), and experience mentoring new hires and interns.
