The Nuclear Company is a Series A AI-first startup pioneering next-generation nuclear reactor deployment through a design-once, build-many model. They are seeking a Backend Engineer to build server-side systems for NOS (Nuclear Operating System), their software platform supporting one of the largest nuclear buildouts in the United States.
In this hands-on engineering role, you will report to the Director of Product Engineering and work within the Product Engineering squad. Your primary responsibilities include designing and building backend services and APIs for NOS applications, modeling and accessing data efficiently, and ensuring the server side is reliable, secure, and performant in a regulated, safety-critical environment.
You will write production code, review pull requests, debug production issues, and collaborate with Staff Software Engineers on application development and with the platform squad on shared services. The role requires building backends that meet the stringent requirements of nuclear operations, where reliability and safety are paramount.
