Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to major enterprises like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The company is seeking an Associate Commercial Counsel to join the global Deal Desk within the Commercial Legal team, based in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating complex contracts with vendors and commercial partners, drafting comprehensive negotiation playbooks, and training internal teams on vendor and partnership relationship management. You will provide strategic, business-oriented legal advice across procurement, partnerships, product, and regulatory teams globally on contracting principles, commercial projects, and legal/regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include: - Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements - Providing strategic legal advice on procurement, partnerships, product, and regulatory matters across global teams - Proactively identifying and mitigating emerging legal and operational risks - Advising on early-stage disputes and managing initial phases of legal conflicts - Driving legal automation efforts and process improvements to scale the team and improve negotiation efficiency - Working autonomously in a cross-functional manner and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders - Educating internal teams on complex legal concepts and contract interpretation This is a role for a commercially-minded counsel who thrives in fast-moving, complex environments and can leverage sophisticated legal expertise and strong communication skills to accelerate Adyen's global growth. Requirements: - 3+ years of legal experience (in-house or law firm), including strong commercial contracting and/or transactional experience with solid understanding of contract law principles - Clear communicator who ensures stakeholders understand the purpose and reasoning behind decisions - Strong people skills and ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders - Curious, self-motivated, pragmatic, reliable, adaptable, and detail-oriented - Experience educating others on complex ideas and providing training - Ability to structure and prioritize work in high-volume, fast-paced environments and drive processes to completion
