Salary: USD 119,100 - 196,750 / annual
Moody's Procurement & Sourcing Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across Legal and Professional Services categories. This role manages high-visibility sourcing projects delivering commercial outcomes, including end-to-end procurement for key supplier agreements, RFPs, RFIs, and targeted negotiations with major law firms and professional service providers.
Key responsibilities include analyzing spend, demand, and supplier markets to identify strategic opportunities; developing category strategies addressing cost optimization, value creation, supplier consolidation, and innovation; executing strategies related to law-firm panels, preferred provider programs, alternative fee arrangements, and matter management; and establishing measurable savings and value-delivery targets. You will lead category planning with the business, proactively manage renewal pipelines, and partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and Technology to align sourcing strategy with enterprise priorities.
The role emphasizes building strong relationships with senior business leaders, leveraging analytics, automation, and AI tools to improve sourcing efficiency and decision-making. You will report savings metrics and drive innovation in legal and professional services procurement and vendor management.
Required qualifications: 7–10 years of Legal and Professional Services Sourcing and Category Management experience in large global corporations; demonstrated success leading complex sourcing initiatives and commercial negotiations; proven ability to manage external Legal Services spend and relationships with major law firms; knowledge of alternative legal fee arrangements, legal spend analytics, legal operations, or alternative legal service providers; experience across multiple Professional Services categories (consulting, accounting, tax, advisory); strong stakeholder and supplier relationship management skills; curiosity about AI tools, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies; strong written and verbal communication; Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
