Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to join the Startups team, serving as a technical partner to founders and engineers building on the Claude Developer Platform. This role bridges sales, product, and engineering, combining deep technical expertise with a builder-first mindset.
You will partner with Account Executives to understand startup requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Key responsibilities include winning technical evaluations by helping startups develop evaluation frameworks that demonstrate Claude's performance for their specific use cases, building credibility with founding teams through technical depth and understanding of their build patterns, and guiding architecture decisions for LLM-powered applications.
You'll gather insights on emerging use cases and deployment patterns, feeding this intelligence back to Product and Engineering teams. Travel to customer sites, startup events, and industry conferences is expected for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
Ideal candidates have 3+ years in technical customer-facing roles (Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or founder-led sales experience). You should have hands-on experience building and deploying LLM applications in production, with expertise in context engineering, evaluation frameworks, and modern AI architectures. Strong builder credibility through software engineering or founding experience is essential—you need to speak the language of technical founders and earn their trust.
You're comfortable with Python, familiar with LLM frameworks and integration patterns, and have a track record selling technical products in competitive markets. Strong technical communication skills and the ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable insights are critical. Experience with startups or high-growth tech companies, understanding their velocity and constraints, is highly valued.
