Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to serve as a trusted technical advisor to national security and defense agencies. This pre-sales role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing skills to architect innovative LLM solutions addressing complex mission challenges while maintaining high standards for safety and reliability.
You will partner with account executives to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions, ensuring alignment between business objectives and implementation. As the primary technical advisor throughout the Claude adoption journey—from discovery through deployment—you'll coordinate internally across multiple teams and stakeholders to drive customer success.
Key responsibilities include supporting customers building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise; creating and delivering compelling technical content tailored to different audiences (from engineering deep dives to executive business-value conversations); guiding technical architecture decisions; helping customers develop evaluation frameworks; identifying integration patterns for feedback to Product and Engineering teams; and traveling frequently to customer sites for workshops and relationship building.
Required qualifications: U.S. citizenship with an active TS/SCI security clearance; prior experience working with U.S. national security (defense and/or intelligence) agencies; 5+ years in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager; ability to navigate complex buying cycles with multiple stakeholders; exceptional relationship-building and communication skills across C-suite, engineering, and IT teams; experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating with enterprise systems; Python familiarity; and familiarity with LLM frameworks or background in machine learning/data science.
