The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation, developing Nyx—a modular, reusable orbital vehicle designed for cargo and eventual human missions.
We seek a hands-on, rigorous Senior Test Technician to support preparation, integration, execution, and reporting of environmental and functional test activities for spacecraft subsystems and hardware. This role is critical to ensuring all testing is executed safely, accurately, and according to procedures and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental Test Preparation & Execution:
- Setup, integration, and execution of environmental tests including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and ancillary testing
- Ownership of experimental campaigns for prototype component qualification (e.g., valves)
- MGSE machining (milling, drilling, helicoil installation) and FGSE preparation
- Guidance and training of Junior Technicians on test activities
- Preparation of hardware, tooling, instrumentation, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for test campaigns
- Installation of thermocouples, accelerometers, harnessing, and instrumentation per test procedures
- Operation of environmental test equipment including vibration shaker, shock test facility, TVAC facility, and monitoring systems
- Pre-test and post-test inspections of test setups
- Support of testing activities at internal and external test facilities
Procedures, Documentation & Reporting:
- Preparation and execution of test procedures with adherence to safety, cleanliness, and quality standards
- Proper documentation and traceability of all operations
- Reporting of anomalies and observations during operations
- Verification of tool, instrumentation, and measurement equipment calibration compliance
Tooling, Equipment & Facility Support:
- Maintenance and organization of tooling, sensors, adapters, cables, and test equipment
- Monitoring of condition and calibration status of test assets and measurement equipment
- First-level maintenance and troubleshooting on test equipment and support systems
- Support for integration and validation of new tooling and test setups
- Assistance to engineers in defining and improving test processes and workflows
- Maintenance of organized, safe, and operationally ready laboratory and test areas
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Technical degree or vocational training in aerospace, electronics, mechatronics, industrial systems, or related technical field
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, defense, industrial testing, or other high-reliability technical environments
- Hands-on experience with environmental testing equipment such as vibration tables, thermal chambers, or instrumentation systems (highly desirable)
- Familiarity with laboratory operations, instrumentation installation, and mechanical integration activities
- Experience working with calibrated equipment, controlled procedures, and technical documentation (strong plus)
EXPECTED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Ability to read and follow technical procedures and engineering drawings
- Experience with mechanical assembly and test setups
- Basic understanding of sensors and instrumentation systems
- Familiarity with torque tools, measurement equipment, and laboratory/test equipment
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to environmental testing activities
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in technical environments
