As an AI Scientist, you will advance Mistral's mission of democratizing frontier intelligence by developing and scaling cutting-edge AI models. You'll work with a global, cross-functional team to design, build, and deploy models solving real-world problems in reasoning, code generation, and multimodal applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Research and develop novel methods to advance large language model capabilities
- Design and implement tooling and infrastructure for training, evaluating, and analyzing AI models at scale
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to ship AI systems with measurable impact
- Explore and innovate across reasoning, code generation, and agent-based systems
- Work with multimodal data (text, image, speech) to expand model capabilities
- Optimize distributed systems to improve efficiency and scalability of model training
- Contribute to open-source community by releasing frontier models
Required qualifications:
- Track record of contributions to relevant scientific domains (publications, open-source projects)
- Hands-on experience with AI frameworks (PyTorch, JAX) or distributed systems (Ray, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, or Java
- Ability to design complex software systems and transition them to production
- Experience training large transformer models in distributed settings
- Familiarity with full MLOps stack (fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment)
- Self-starter mindset with autonomy to drive projects and collaborate effectively
- Strong engineering competence focused on scalable, reliable systems
