Rippling is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its Payments Compliance Accounting team. This role focuses on establishing and maintaining robust accounting infrastructure to support Rippling's expansion in payment processing. You will support Money Transmission License (MTL) regulators' periodic compliance reporting, manage MTL exams, introduce new product offerings, and lead expansion into U.S. and global markets. Rippling's Accounting team is responsible for supporting and communicating the financial story of the company, assessing, tracking, and recording every transaction. The team is diverse and spread across the United States, Europe, and India, with more international locations planned. Over recent years, the team has grown exponentially to support a complex, multi-product company operating globally. Key responsibilities include: - Manage day-to-day accounting operations for payments entities, including customer funds obligations, corporate cash management, and general ledger maintenance - Ensure compliance with U.S. state and federal money transmission laws and regulations - Prepare and analyze U.S. GAAP-compliant financial statements and secondary books as required by MTL regulations - Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and compliance - Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate financial records and facilitate audit preparations - Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to meet regulatory compliance standards - Foster cross-functional collaboration with legal, finance, treasury, tax, product, and R&D teams to deliver innovative and scalable solutions - Drive process automation initiatives to streamline journal entries, reporting, and system integrations - Own ad-hoc requests and special projects, demonstrating adaptability and proactive problem-solving The role requires 1–3 days per week in the San Francisco office. Requirements: - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Qualified Chartered Accountant - Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in the tech industry, preferably in fintech or money transmission services - Understanding of U.S. Money Transmission Laws and licensing requirements (a plus) - Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills; willing to delve deep into processes and systems - Exceptional people management skills, with a collaborative work style and commitment to achieving results - Strong managerial, planning, organizational, decision-making, interpersonal, and analytical skills - Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition requirements - Experience with NetSuite ERP and business systems data warehouse infrastructure (preferred) - Ability to thrive in a dynamic accounting department, effectively managing multiple entities, projects, and deliverables - No specific background or experience with Payment Compliance is required to be successful in this role
