Salary: USD 135,000 - 165,000 / annual
Quantum Space is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting and internal controls for a publicly traded government contractor in the aerospace and defense sector.
You will lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Key responsibilities include reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and estimates; managing project accounting activities including contract setup, revenue recognition, billing, and labor distribution; ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies; and supporting SEC reporting requirements (Forms 10-Q and 10-K).
You will play a critical role in maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, including developing, documenting, testing, and remediating internal controls over financial reporting. You'll coordinate with internal and external auditors, support quarterly reviews and annual audits, and ensure accounting practices comply with government contracting requirements including FAR, CAS, and DCAA regulations.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring indirect cost pools and allocation bases; supporting incurred cost submissions and government audits; reviewing contract accounting matters including ASC 606 revenue recognition; maintaining strong controls over labor charging, timekeeping, and project accounting; partnering with program managers, FP&A, contracts, and operations teams; identifying process improvements and automation opportunities; managing and mentoring accounting team members; and supporting M&A, financing transactions, and system implementations.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a publicly traded company and/or government contracting
- 2+ years of accounting management or supervisory experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Working knowledge of SEC reporting and SOX 404/internal control requirements
- Strong understanding of government contracting accounting and compliance (FAR, CAS, DCAA, indirect rates, cost accounting)
- Experience with project-based accounting and government contract revenue recognition
- Strong understanding of monthly and quarterly financial close processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with large, complex financial data sets
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- CPA or active CPA candidate
- Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint
- Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or government technology industry
- Experience supporting SEC filings, external audits, and SOX compliance
- Experience with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate development
- Experience implementing or improving ERP systems and accounting processes
- Experience in high-growth or entrepreneurial environment

- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from U.S. Department of State (ITAR compliance).
