OpenGov is seeking an Account Executive I to drive new business growth in the State and Local Government (SMG) market. This is a quota-carrying sales role focused on converting qualified leads into closed deals within a defined territory.
You will own the full sales cycle from discovery through contract signature, managing relationships with prospects across local and state governments, school districts, and special districts. Key responsibilities include conducting discovery calls to understand customer pain points, delivering tailored product demonstrations in collaboration with Solution Engineers, prospecting into your territory to build pipeline, and negotiating deals in alignment with company standards.
You'll use MEDDIC sales methodology and Salesforce to manage opportunities and maintain accurate pipeline data. The role emphasizes consultative selling, business acumen, and the ability to translate OpenGov's ERP and AI solutions into value propositions that resonate with government leaders. You'll also collaborate with marketing on regional campaigns, contribute product feedback based on customer interactions, and participate in team enablement sessions to share best practices.
OpenGov's platform serves over 2,000 government entities with solutions spanning enterprise asset management, procurement, accounting and budgeting, billing and revenue management, permitting, and transparency tools. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dubuque, Dallas, and Pune, and employs 800+ people globally.
This role represents a progression from Sales Development, requiring ownership of the full sales process in addition to prospecting and closing. You'll work closely with your POD Leader, Solution Engineers, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Travel up to 25% for customer meetings and events.
