Salary: USD 145,000 - 160,000 / annual
OpenGov is seeking an Account Executive to lead sales efforts for its ERP and AI solutions serving local and state governments across the U.S. You will own a defined territory and product suite, driving new business development and expanding existing customer relationships within the public sector vertical.
Key responsibilities include territory planning and prospect identification, leading the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract negotiation and deal closure. You will conduct product demonstrations and sales presentations to government executives and technical stakeholders, develop deep knowledge of OpenGov's product suite and competitive landscape, and collaborate with the ERP POD Leader on complex multi-suite opportunities. You will also manage customer relationships at senior levels, establish referenceable accounts to build brand presence, and work with marketing on demand-generation campaigns and trade show strategy.
The role requires quota ownership, participation in sales planning meetings using MEDDIC methodology, and up to 50% travel. You will develop consultative selling skills, learning to engage senior government leaders on organizational strategy, transformation initiatives, and budget requirements.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree, 2–4 years of quota-carrying software sales experience, and a proven track record of closing complex deals and hitting quotas. State and local government vertical experience is a bonus. You should be self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable with rapid change. CRM experience (ideally Salesforce) and strong written communication are expected. The ideal candidate combines hunter mentality with collaborative approach, curiosity, and genuine passion for technology's impact on public service.
