Defense Unicorns is seeking an experienced Account Executive to drive business development and revenue growth in the aerospace market, focusing on rotary-wing aircraft, fixed-wing aircraft, and space launch systems. This role targets aircraft manufacturers, aerospace and defense primes, subsystem providers, mission-system integrators, launch providers, Federal Systems Integrators, and government program offices. The Account Executive will identify opportunities where Defense Unicorns' modern software practices—including cloud-native architectures, DevSecOps, digital engineering, and modeling/simulation—can help customers modernize platform development. A core focus is understanding specialized environments such as SAP/SAR systems, classified platforms, air-gapped networks, and integration laboratories where traditional software delivery is tightly coupled to individual platforms. Key responsibilities include owning pipeline creation and account strategy across aerospace programs; developing strategic relationships with primes, manufacturers, and integrators; identifying programs where modern software architectures reduce platform-specific engineering and accelerate capability delivery; and working with Solutions Architects to map Defense Unicorns capabilities into platform architectures, mission computers, and ground systems. The ideal candidate understands both the aerospace acquisition ecosystem and the technical evolution from vertically integrated platform software toward modular, software-defined architectures. This enables mission applications and capabilities to be developed, tested, delivered, and updated independently of the underlying platform. The role involves engaging early in platform modernization and next-generation programs, building relationships across engineering, program management, and acquisition stakeholders, and representing Defense Unicorns at industry events and customer engagements. A major focus is helping customers understand how modern onboard compute architectures and Open Mission Systems approaches can change mission capability delivery, allowing new applications, algorithms, and sensor integrations to be deployed onto existing platforms without complete redesign.
