OpenAI's Go-To-Market team is seeking an experienced Account Director to lead relationships with strategically important startup customers building on the OpenAI platform. This hybrid role (3 days/week in office) is based in Singapore and requires fluent Mandarin-speaking ability.
You will own a portfolio of startup accounts, developing comprehensive account management strategies and driving revenue growth through consumption and contracted targets. Working closely with AI Deployment Engineers, Solutions teams, and cross-functional partners (product, engineering, support, finance), you'll serve as the primary relationship owner for key startup customers, helping them successfully leverage OpenAI's APIs, SDKs, and applications.
Key responsibilities include: managing account portfolios and revenue forecasts; analyzing key metrics and providing insights to stakeholders; collaborating across product, marketing, and engineering teams; gathering and synthesizing market intelligence on the startup landscape; advocating for improvements to the startup experience; and supporting team recruitment, onboarding, and culture development.
You'll work directly with C-level executives and startup founders, translating technical concepts for both customers and internal stakeholders. The role requires deep understanding of the startup ecosystem and ability to influence company strategy and operations.
Required experience: 7–12 years selling platform-as-a-service (PaaS), cloud, or API products; background in or around startups (founder, early employee, or startup customer focus); experience supporting fast-growing companies; direct C-level engagement; technical communication skills; and ability to gather and process complex market intelligence. Mandarin-speaking fluency is essential.
Ideal candidates are customer-centric, passionate about AI and its beneficial deployment, builders excited to scale systems and processes, comfortable with novel challenges requiring multidimensional thinking, and strategic thinkers who plan years ahead.
