OpenAI's Go To Market team is seeking an experienced Account Director to lead relationships with strategically important startup customers building on the OpenAI platform. This role combines technical acumen, partnership strategy, and business development to help startups successfully leverage OpenAI's AI models and APIs.
You will own a portfolio of startup accounts, developing comprehensive account plans and managing consumption revenue targets. Working cross-functionally with product, research, engineering, solutions architecture, and support teams, you'll serve as the primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for your accounts. Key responsibilities include designing and executing complex deal strategies, managing revenue forecasts, analyzing account metrics, and synthesizing product feedback to inform OpenAI's roadmap.
Beyond account management, you'll monitor the startup and competitive landscape to contribute to corporate strategy, lead high-visibility customer events and programs, and support team recruitment, onboarding, and culture development.
Required experience includes 6+ years selling platform-as-a-service or SaaS solutions, designing complex deal strategies, and working in or around the startup ecosystem (as a founder, early-stage employee, or startup account manager). You should be comfortable communicating technical concepts to both C-level executives and technical teams, and have a track record supporting fast-growing, high-performance companies.
The ideal candidate is deeply customer-centric, passionate about AI and its potential to benefit humanity, and energized by building scalable systems and processes. You think strategically about go-to-market approaches, embrace new challenges, and excel at gathering and synthesizing complex market intelligence.
This is a hybrid role based in Munich or Berlin, requiring 3 days in the office per week. OpenAI offers relocation assistance for new employees.
