Coursera and Udemy have merged to create a comprehensive skills platform serving 300+ million learners and 12,000+ enterprise customers. The Account Director, Education role is responsible for driving new business, expansion, and renewals within a designated territory focused on higher education institutions. You will engage directly with university presidents, provosts, chancellors, deans, and other senior education leaders across 4-year institutions, community colleges, and high schools. Key responsibilities include prospecting and selling to senior education leaders in your territory, building new business pipeline, ensuring timely renewals and growth within existing accounts, and identifying cross-sell opportunities through direct prospecting and partnership with the Sales Development team. Success requires meeting weekly and daily activity metrics, driving retention lifecycle activities with installed clients, identifying and executing expansion opportunities, and hitting quarterly and annual quotas. You'll develop comprehensive product knowledge with a focus on understanding education buyers, procurement processes, and expansion through for-credit use cases. Staying informed about evolving business and technology challenges faced by clients is essential. The role requires 6+ years of sales experience selling to universities, colleges, high schools, and education systems, with proven quota management and contract negotiation skills. You must have demonstrated experience selling to university presidents, provosts, and deans, with strong ability to build lasting client relationships and provide strategic insights. Collaboration with Customer Success teams to link learning initiatives to measurable business outcomes is critical. Effective presentation, organization, and time management skills with a proven track record of delivering results are required. Approximately 25% travel is expected for industry events, client meetings, and team off-sites. Preferred qualifications include enterprise SaaS sales experience, consistent quota overachievement with strong forecasting accuracy, proven prospecting and demand generation within existing client bases through upsell/cross-sell strategies, entrepreneurial drive, and comfort with technology and new tools.
