As an Account Development Representative, you will work with the Sales team to develop and lead inbound and outbound campaigns from idea generation through qualified calls. You'll develop strong sales and product knowledge while interacting with IT and business decision-makers via telephone, video, LinkedIn, and email. Your responsibilities include updating lead and prospect activity in Salesforce for effective lead management, setting qualified introductory meetings for the Sales team, and nurturing early-phase opportunities for future pipeline potential.
You will exceed monthly and quarterly opportunity quotas, build strong relationships with marketing and Account Executive teams, and invest in your self-development to prepare for future success. Additional tasks as required by your manager are part of the role.
First 90 Days: By month 1, you'll meet your team, complete sales boot camp training, and understand Kong's product offerings and how Account Development, Marketing, and Account Executive teams collaborate. By month 2, you'll be comfortable on client calls, work with Account Executives on your first opportunity, shadow calls, and begin delivering ramp quota. By month 3, you'll understand the sales funnel, demonstrate sales methodologies, provide insights to Account Development and marketing teams, and deliver against ramp quota.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2+ years of strong sales or customer-facing experience
- Self-starter with a track record of hitting and exceeding goals
- 'Hunter' mentality: comfortable prospecting, cold-calling, and following up on incoming leads with strong desire to win
- Ability and willingness to learn, react to, and share lessons learned across the organization
- Open to feedback and able to apply it to daily workflow
- Outstanding communication skills including phone and written communication, plus active listening
- Extraordinary character with incredible drive for success, high work ethic, curious by nature, and obsessed with smashing sales goals
- Validated time leadership skills and ability to work independently and through coaching
- Desire to work in a driven and fast-paced environment
