OpenAI's Web team is seeking a Web Designer to create exceptional digital experiences for business audiences on OpenAI.com. This role focuses on Business Marketing, helping organizations understand how OpenAI's products can support their work through thoughtful storytelling, strong visual design, and intuitive user experiences.
As a hands-on individual contributor, you will own design projects from early exploration through launch. You'll develop information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity responsive designs that translate complex product capabilities into clear, compelling narratives for business users. Working closely with engineers, brand designers, marketers, and writers, you'll balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints while contributing to a cohesive experience across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning design from concept through implementation, creating wireframes, prototypes, and responsive designs
- Translating complex product capabilities and business use cases into clear stories and web experiences
- Designing product, solution, and campaign experiences that help business audiences discover and evaluate offerings
- Partnering cross-functionally to shape ideas, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and ship polished work
- Evolving and applying the web design system to create reusable patterns
- Staying involved through implementation and design QA, with attention to accessibility, responsive behavior, and performance
- Using research, feedback, analytics, and experimentation to improve experiences
Ideal candidates have a track record of shipping high-quality websites or web products with a portfolio demonstrating both visual craft and thoughtful UX. You should have a strong eye for typography, layout, hierarchy, and interaction; think in systems; move confidently from concepts to detailed designs; work well across disciplines; and communicate your reasoning clearly. Comfort with ambiguity, openness to feedback, and curiosity about AI and OpenAI's mission are essential.
The role is based in New York with a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available.
