Salary: USD 284,762 - 480,536 / annual
Braze is seeking a VP of Product Engineering to lead the Channels division, the action layer of the Braze customer engagement platform. This division encompasses all messaging channels including Email, Push, SMS/MMS/RCS, WhatsApp, LINE, In-App Messages, Content Cards, Banners, Landing Pages, Feature Flags, and Webhooks.
In this role, you will lead a multi-team division through its next stage of technical and product transformation. You will manage the team and grow the organization through hiring, architecture design, and developing engineering skillsets. You will set vision, goals, processes, and protocols for the division.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading software engineering teams across the Channels division
- Developing highly differentiated and sophisticated channel products
- Thinking strategically about how to build and position the broad portfolio of channels
- Maturing systems into a more modular, efficient technology platform while delivering best-in-class product
- Leading the organization through the AI transition, including channel products that are increasingly intelligent and agentic, and leveraging AI-assisted development to raise engineering velocity and quality
- Close collaboration with product and design teams on cross-functional challenges
- Operating at multiple levels of granularity, from high-level vision to detailed technology decisions
Requirements:
- Several years of relevant experience as a manager of experienced managers with a strong track record of transformative success
- Durable, motivated, ambitious, high-energy leader
- Exceptional people leadership capability with ability to grow a world-class team
- Strong technical leadership with ability to operate at different levels of granularity
- Deep credibility in large-scale distributed systems; ability to discuss architecture, reliability, and cost efficiency with senior engineers
- Fluency in AI-assisted engineering with an informed point of view on how AI agents and tooling change engineering organizations
- Strong process leadership understanding when to add and remove processes for optimal execution
- Excellent communication and writing skills; leadership evident in artifacts created to guide the team
