Sitemate is a construction and infrastructure software company building AI-powered agents and platforms for the built world. The company has strong product-market fit, generates thousands of leads monthly through organic channels, and is backed by Blackbird with 200 people across 18+ countries. As VP of Marketing, you will report directly to the CEO and lead a 7-person marketing team organized across five functional areas: Performance Marketing, Content Engineering, Marketing Design, Marketing Operations, and Product Marketing. You manage through function leads in each area, with specialists rolling up through those leads. You own the complete global demand generation engine, including content production, performance marketing across paid channels (primarily Google Ads and Meta retargeting), and marketing operations infrastructure. You are responsible for the marketing organization's structure, hiring, headcount planning, budget allocation, and performance management of your function leads and their teams. Key responsibilities include: establishing and executing the marketing operating cadence with quarterly initiative planning and clear success metrics (e.g., MQL-to-pipeline conversion by channel); defining the boundary between marketing's remit (demand creation, content, brand, paid acquisition) and the VP of Growth's product-led motion (activation, retention, referral, expansion); setting the department's AI adoption strategy and measuring gains; and representing marketing to the executive team while translating company strategy into clear marketing priorities. You will work closely with the CEO, VP of Growth, your four function leads, Operations, GTM leadership (Sales and Customer Success), and Engineering/Product leadership. You are expected to be a player-coach, personally making and defending campaign, content, and channel decisions while coaching your team on direction and standards. Immediate priorities include building reliable turnaround infrastructure between Product Marketing and Design, continuing the content roadmap, improving search engine and answer engine brand visibility, maintaining performance marketing momentum through retargeting iteration and lead value analysis, and building marketing operations as real infrastructure. Success at 90 days means you are making personal campaign and channel decisions with measurable impact, the ownership boundary with Growth is written and agreed, every marketing initiative has a named owner and clear success measure, and you have identified and proposed solutions for the three biggest concerns about the current growth engine. By 6 months, marketing-qualified leads converting to sales pipeline should be measurably up, AI-driven search should be built into content production, and content should land on a predictable schedule. By 12 months, the engine should pull in measurably more ways, the quarterly planning rhythm should run without your personal involvement in every piece, and at least one key leadership role should have a ready successor. The role is hybrid, 2 days per week in the Sydney office. Sitemate operates with full transparency on metrics and compensation, player-coach leadership at every level, and clear operating principles around shipping org charts, growing from within, measuring marketing health like a product surface, and maintaining single accountable ownership on cross-functional work. REQUIREMENTS: Must have: - Marketing leadership experience through a comparable growth-stage transition - SaaS experience - Demand generation experience with direct ownership of a pipeline/MQL number - Content marketing experience spanning both SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) - Performance marketing experience across paid channels, including rigorous, ecommerce-style paid acquisition - Technical fluency in attribution and conversion tracking, with hands-on experience setting it up or debugging it yourself Nice to have: - Vertical tech background - Experience building or owning marketing websites - Growth experience or experience working closely with a growth leader or team Essential tools: - WordPress/Content Management Systems - AI Coding Tools (Claude Code, Open Code, Cursor) - Project Management Tools (Slack, Jira, Confluence) - Google Analytics - Google Search Console - Bing Search Console - Meta channels - Google Sheets
