Reporting to the Head of Business, you'll partner closely with the executive team and cross-functional leaders, serving as both strategic advisor and hands-on builder. You'll establish the systems, processes, team structure, and financial strategy needed to scale alongside a rapidly growing deep-tech company.
Key responsibilities include owning financial planning and forecasting (annual budgeting, long-range capital planning, rolling forecasts); building the finance function from the ground up with systems, processes, controls, and reporting rhythms; translating financial data into actionable insights through monthly and quarterly reporting; leading accounting and financial reporting with oversight of outsourced partners; strengthening financial systems and internal controls; managing cash flow forecasting, treasury operations, and capital planning; providing cross-functional financial guidance on hiring, capex, and vendor decisions; and evaluating/implementing financial systems (ERP, FP&A platforms).

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, with strong U.S. GAAP and financial reporting expertise. You have a proven track record building and scaling FP&A processes in fast-growing or capital-intensive settings, managing external audit and tax compliance, and operating as a hands-on 0→1 leader with exceptional analytical and cross-functional partnership skills.
Bonus qualifications include CPA, MBA or advanced degree, experience at VC-backed capital-intensive startups (especially fusion, energy, hard tech, or hardware), and fundraising/investor relations support.
This is a hybrid role with regular in-office collaboration expected in Livermore. The position requires eligibility for and maintenance of appropriate government authorization to access controlled technology and information, including potential security clearance or export license.
