Pie Insurance is transforming commercial insurance for small businesses through technology. As VP of Claims Adjudication, you will report to the Chief Claims Officer and lead the entire claims adjudication function across all jurisdictions. This is a strategic leadership role with significant operational and people-management responsibility.
You will oversee all aspects of claims adjudication operations, including daily execution and long-term strategy. Key responsibilities include leading the claims adjudication team (managing Directors and Senior Managers), implementing workers' compensation claims programs, directing quarterly reviews of large loss and catastrophe claims, and developing policies and procedures that enhance claims processing, investigation, and settlement.
You will collaborate closely with the Chief Claims Officer on overall claims strategy and contribute expert claims insights to the executive team. You are accountable for building and scaling the claims adjudication organization, determining team structure, setting KPIs, and developing talent. This includes fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture within your team.
Financial accountability is central to the role: you will manage budgets for headcount and operational expenses, monitor claims metrics and performance trends, drive continuous improvement in loss ratios, and ensure operations support profitable growth and underwriting objectives.
You will also champion innovation and digital transformation in claims processing. This includes collaborating with the Claims Technology Team on the technology roadmap, partnering with Product and Enterprise Tech on claims technology investments, and leading initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Cross-functional collaboration is essential. You will be a member of the Claims leadership team and Pie Executive Team, working closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Reinsurance, Product, Finance, Legal, and other departments. You will represent the claims adjudication perspective in product development, pricing, and risk management decisions, and serve as a subject matter expert in external business development and marketing activities.
