Affirm is seeking a Visual Designer II to elevate the quality and consistency of customer experiences across its fintech product ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of product and brand, focusing on motion-forward design that brings clarity and trust to Affirm's financial products. You will design motion-forward experiences across in-app surfaces, web, email, lifecycle communications, and product marketing. Your work will include creating animations, motion studies, animated illustrations, iconography, and interaction patterns that explain product behavior, guide attention, and improve customer comprehension. You'll own defined visual and motion-design projects from concept and storyboarding through production and implementation, maintaining consistently high craft standards. You'll contribute to product-design initiatives by mapping user flows, developing interaction concepts, and carrying solutions through high-fidelity design and prototyping. You'll create and extend reusable visual assets, motion patterns, guidelines, and components that strengthen Affirm's product and communication systems. Collaboration is central: you'll work with Product Design, Design Systems, Product, Engineering, Brand, Content Design, Lifecycle, and Growth partners to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences. You'll prepare production-ready assets and specifications, partnering with engineers to ensure motion and visual details are accessible, performant, and implemented as intended. Affirm is remote-first with flexibility built in. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within Canada. All new hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience. Requirements: - 3+ years of professional experience in motion, animation, visual, communication, or product design within a product-driven environment - Portfolio demonstrating strong motion and visual-design craft, including animation, interaction, illustration, and storytelling across digital product experiences - Strong knowledge of animation principles (timing, pacing, easing, transitions, choreography) and proficiency with After Effects, LottieFiles, Rive, or comparable software - Mastery of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, LottieFiles, and relevant 2D/3D animation tools - Familiarity with HTML/CSS and technical constraints of production environments, especially email and mobile - UX and product-design experience, including understanding of user flows, interaction design, information hierarchy, and how motion supports end-to-end experiences - Ability to storyboard, prototype, and articulate design decisions to technical and non-technical audiences - Ability to independently deliver defined projects, communicate design rationale, incorporate feedback, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
