Xaira Therapeutics is an innovative biotech startup leveraging AI to transform drug discovery and development. The company develops generative AI models to design protein and antibody therapeutics, targeting historically hard-to-drug molecular targets, and creates foundation models for biology and disease to enable better target identification and patient stratification. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Operations, this Vice President will lead the identification, development, negotiation, and execution of major strategic transactions that expand Xaira's platform reach and value. Unlike traditional biotech BD roles focused on individual asset licensing, this leader will develop complex partnerships around Xaira's differentiated scientific and technical capabilities, spanning multiple platform technologies, programs, disease areas, and R&D stages. Key responsibilities include developing and executing BD strategy in partnership with the SVP; identifying major AI platform, technology, research, and multi-program partnership opportunities; translating Xaira's AI-enabled discovery and development capabilities into compelling partnership opportunities; and assessing market trends across TechBio, AI, and biopharma. The role requires proactively originating significant partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotech, technology, and strategic organizations; building senior-level relationships with decision-makers; leading early discussions to understand partner priorities; and developing partnership concepts connecting external needs with Xaira's platform and expertise. The VP will lead major transactions from concept through diligence, negotiation, approval, and execution; develop creative deal structures including upfront payments, research funding, milestones, royalties, and co-development arrangements; and lead cross-functional teams involving scientific, technical, legal, finance, operations, and executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong transaction leadership with the ability to understand differentiated science and technology, translate AI and drug development capabilities into strategic and commercial value, and develop creative deal structures with diverse partners.
