Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased array ground stations for satellite communications. The company enables real-time, reliable communication for national security, global connectivity, and disaster response missions through vertically integrated design, manufacturing, and deployment of scalable systems. The Capture Strategist owns the full lifecycle of strategic opportunities from early identification through contract award, working across U.S. Government, international government, and commercial customers. This role sits at the intersection of business development and strategy, requiring someone who builds customer trust early, understands competitive dynamics, and executes winning proposals. Key responsibilities include: owning capture strategy for priority opportunities; building and managing customer relationships ahead of formal solicitations to understand mission needs, procurement timelines, and decision criteria; assessing competitive landscape and developing win themes, teaming strategy, and differentiated positioning; leading black hat assessments and price-to-win analysis; serving as primary author and project manager for proposals, coordinating inputs across business development, engineering, product, mission management, legal, and finance; and building capture playbooks and competitive intelligence infrastructure. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in capture, business development, or proposal strategy roles in aerospace, defense, government technology, or other complex technical industries. Required experience includes shaping opportunities pre-RFP through customer engagement and competitive positioning, and leading or supporting RFI/RFP responses. Preferred qualifications include space industry experience (SATCOM, RF, communications infrastructure), U.S. Government opportunity capture experience (defense, civil, or national security), commercial or international customer capture experience, familiarity with federal acquisition processes, comfort with AI tools for proposal development, and experience in early-stage startups or high-growth environments. The role requires in-person presence in Washington, D.C. (or Los Angeles). Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents due to ITAR compliance requirements for space technology export regulations.
