Turnitin, a 25+ year-old education technology pioneer, is seeking an experienced UX Writer to join their remote-first team. The company serves over 16,000 academic institutions globally with learning integrity and assessment solutions including Turnitin Feedback Studio, Clarity, Originality, Gradescope, ExamSoft, and iThenticate.
In this role, you will create clear, user-centered product content and contribute to content decisions throughout the product development lifecycle. You'll work closely with designers, product managers, researchers, and cross-functional UX team members to write and refine product experiences—from interface copy and error messages to onboarding flows and user guidance.
Key responsibilities include: writing concise UX copy for product interfaces, creating and improving user guidance and release notes, collaborating with designers and product managers from early concepts through delivery, applying UX writing principles and accessibility considerations to content decisions, explaining content choices to stakeholders, managing feedback loops, and using Jira to track work in sprint-based processes.
You'll need a bachelor's degree in English, Writing, Technical Communication, HCI, UX Design, Linguistics, Communications, Education, or equivalent practical experience. The ideal candidate has 2–7 years of industry experience in UX writing, technical writing, or related fields (education, communications, product management). You should demonstrate proven ability to write user-centered product content, strong grammar and attention to detail, ability to balance multiple project tracks, and experience transforming data-driven insights into actionable content recommendations. Experience with Jira, Agile methodology, CMSs like Zendesk, HTML markup, and writing for AI-powered products is desirable. A strong writing portfolio demonstrating multiple approaches and tangible impact is required.
