Tailscale is a secure networking platform built on WireGuard that helps teams safely interconnect people and devices. This UX Researcher role is a hybrid of research execution and research operations, reporting to the design manager.
You will conduct usability and quality-validation testing, owning the full study lifecycle from recruiting and scoping through analysis and insights communication. Initially focused on clearing a backlog of studies with emphasis on one large ongoing project, you'll grow toward owning research direction for one or more product areas with increasing autonomy.
Research operations responsibilities include maintaining the research library (standardizing documentation, tagging, organization), managing the research tool stack and templates, and handling logistics: participant panel management, study compensation processing, vendor renewals, and procurement coordination with legal and finance.
You'll also enable product teams—coaching designers and PMs through study design, helping them interpret results, and building reusable enablement assets like templates and reference guides so your support scales.
The role requires flexibility as the organization evolves. You'll work closely with the current UX researcher (the team's strategic research lead), product designers, product managers, and engineers across the organization. You'll have significant autonomy on prioritization, with more independence on operations work and partnership support on research direction.
