Tailscale is a secure networking platform built on WireGuard that helps teams and organizations safely interconnect people and devices. This is a dedicated growth research role focused on supporting the Product Growth team through rigorous user research.
You will own the full lifecycle of growth-focused research studies, including scoping, recruiting, conducting, analyzing, and communicating findings. Your work will directly support the growth team's experiment pipeline and tactical questions around onboarding flows, acquisition and activation funnels, and product-led growth optimization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running growth research studies using multiple methodologies: moderated and unmoderated usability testing, interviews, surveys, mixed methods, and longitudinal studies
- Designing studies to evaluate and diagnose adoption experiences, with strong quantitative rigor
- Analyzing behavioral data from product logs to validate hypotheses and triangulate with experimental findings
- Proactively identifying research opportunities from community forums, feedback forms, and other data sources
- Mapping adoption behaviors and defining personas for different user segments
- Partnering closely with the Growth PM and Growth Designers to translate hypotheses into study designs and deliver actionable insights
- Building domain expertise in how users find, try, and adopt Tailscale, extending into pricing, packaging, and billing research
You'll report to the design manager and work most closely with the Growth PM and Growth Designers. A staff UX researcher will serve as your primary resource for methods and research context. The role is designed to grow from executing studies to independently owning the research agenda for growth-related areas.
The first six months focus on learning the product, growth model, and prior learnings. Over time, you'll develop deep expertise in user adoption and adjacent revenue-facing research questions.
