ByteDance is seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead interaction design for AI-native products and system-level software within an internal innovative business team. This role focuses on exploring new interaction paradigms for the AI era, defining cross-device consistency frameworks for ecosystem scenarios (primarily mobile and multi-device collaboration), and abstracting complex product logic, AI Agent workflows, and multimodal inputs/outputs into clear, natural, and implementable interaction experiences. Key responsibilities include driving 0-to-1 exploratory projects from problem definition and conceptual design through prototype validation and full-cycle implementation. You will collaborate closely with product, algorithm, engineering, visual, motion, and hardware teams to transform concepts into production-ready solutions. The role requires monitoring developments in AI products, OS experiences, and new interaction models to develop reusable methods, principles, and guidelines. Required qualifications include 5+ years of UX design, experience design, or related field experience. You must demonstrate system-level thinking with the ability to define experience problems from an ecosystem perspective rather than isolated pages or flows. Proven experience leading ambiguous or 0-to-1 exploratory design projects is essential. Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma) and the ability to demonstrate design reasoning through structured portfolios is required. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to drive consensus across product, design, and engineering teams are critical. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related discipline. Experience designing for AI products, mobile OS, system-level software, or multimodal interfaces (voice/gesture) is valued. Advanced prototyping skills using tools such as ProtoPie, Framer, SwiftUI, or AI-assisted coding are a plus. Compensation includes a base salary range of $121,600–$208,800 annually, with potential for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units. Benefits include day-one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, and wellbeing benefits. Employees receive 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, and 17 days of Paid Personal Time annually (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
