Anthropic is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher to join the Platform research team. The Platform organization comprises the API, agent and connector infrastructure, Console, SDKs, and documentation that developers use to build with Claude. This is a senior individual-contributor role with significant autonomy, embedded within a fast-moving, technically sophisticated organization.
You will work with Platform leaders and teams to identify critical research questions about the developers, companies, and enterprises building on Claude. You'll own the research agenda, deciding what questions are worth studying and leading end-to-end research initiatives using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Your work will span the full spectrum of platform users: individual developers, product teams, enterprises, and procurement decision-makers.
Key responsibilities include scoping and running mixed-methods studies independently, designing rigorous surveys and conducting in-depth interviews with technical users, communicating findings to product managers, designers, and engineers, and building research infrastructure and tools that leverage Claude to keep pace with the platform's rapid evolution. You'll help the organization develop systematic understanding of its users and inform strategic product decisions.
You must have substantial industry UX research experience independently managing end-to-end studies, with demonstrated expertise in both qualitative interviewing of technical users and quantitative survey design and analysis. A technical background is essential—either prior software engineering experience, sustained developer-experience research on APIs/SDKs/developer tools, or a proven track record researching deeply technical products. You should be comfortable reading technical documentation, building small prototypes on the platform, and collaborating with highly technical teams without requiring translation. Hands-on use of AI in your own research workflow is required.
Preferred qualifications include 8+ years of UX research experience, a track record of setting research strategy that influenced product direction at the organizational level, experience embedding with fast-shipping engineering-led teams, excellent storytelling calibrated to different audiences, hands-on experience building with AI tools and agents, and background in API ecosystem or developer-platform research.
