Axios is seeking an SVP, Product to lead product strategy and execution across the organization as it becomes increasingly AI-native. Reporting to the CTO, you will oversee Product, Design, and AI Enablement functions, establishing the operating model that allows Axios to evaluate, prioritize, and scale AI-enabled solutions without creating fragmented systems.
You will lead across multiple product areas including the CMS, axios.com, newsletters, Local products, internal tools, and shared platforms supporting editorial, revenue, and operations. The role requires connecting product development at multiple levels: distinguishing between local workflows, AI Enablement support, and durable company-wide products that Design and Product should develop.
Key responsibilities include setting strategy and priorities for Product and Design; translating company goals into clear product opportunities and investment choices; raising the product management bar through coaching and accountability; establishing a clear path from promising experiments to durable, supported products; and serving as a trusted strategic partner to the CTO and senior leadership.
You will need senior product leadership experience in software, media, or fast-moving environments, with demonstrated ability to bring Product and Design together. AI fluency is essential—you should personally use AI to accelerate work and prototype ideas, and know how to turn AI capabilities into useful products. Technical fluency across product strategy, workflows, tooling, and data is required, along with experience managing prioritization and portfolio decisions across multiple stakeholders. Success means establishing a clear company-wide model for what Axios builds and why, enabling faster Product and Design decisions, and creating a repeatable path from AI experiments to durable products.
