ServiceNow seeks a Principal Platform Architect to serve as a trusted advisor for enterprise platform strategy and governance. This is a senior technical leadership role focused on defining platform standards, establishing governance models, and guiding architectural decisions to ensure ServiceNow remains scalable, healthy, and aligned with customer business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and maintaining platform vision and strategy aligned to enterprise IT and business goals
- Establishing platform health metrics and remediation strategies to manage technical debt and upgrade readiness
- Creating reusable architecture patterns, standards, and reference architectures that accelerate delivery and reduce risk
- Providing architectural guidance to ensure designs align with platform standards and leading practices
- Partnering with customer executives to ensure platform decisions support measurable business outcomes and value realization
- Shaping governance frameworks covering instance strategy, integrations, and data models
- Facilitating platform governance forums to drive consistent decisions across partners and teams
- Anticipating and mitigating platform risks related to scalability, performance, and technical debt
- Influencing adoption of leading practices across customer, partner, and ServiceNow teams
- Providing structured feedback to ServiceNow product and engineering teams
Success metrics include adoption of platform operating models, reduction in technical debt, consistent architecture decisions across implementation partners, increased adoption of strategic capabilities including AI and automation, and demonstrable alignment between platform roadmap and business outcomes.
Required qualifications: 12+ years of enterprise architecture, solution strategy, and program leadership experience; proven ability to engage at executive level to influence platform direction; track record of defining multi-workflow, enterprise-scale architectures and governance models; expertise in platform strategy, integration patterns, and complex delivery governance; ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA) and other architecture certifications highly desirable. Must hold or be eligible to obtain security clearance (baseline/NV1/NV2). Experience leveraging or critically thinking about AI integration into work processes is required.
