Salary: USD 225,400 - 461,500 / annual
Novartis BioMedical Research seeks a Translational Medicine Director to lead clinical research and drug development in cardiovascular and metabolic disease. This is a dual-level posting (Associate Director or Director based on qualifications).
You will oversee the planning, execution, and interpretation of Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials, serving as a key member of global cross-functional project teams from drug discovery through proof-of-concept (PoC) and beyond. As a Cardiovascular Metabolism Translational Medicine Expert, you will develop high-value decision strategies, lead teams through the PoC phase, and drive implementation of clinical development pathways.
Key responsibilities include: leading global project teams through PoC to registration; owning clinical portions of the Integrated Development Plan; serving as medical monitor for clinical studies; communicating clinical outcomes to project teams and decision boards; evaluating clinical centers and fostering investigator relationships; overseeing publication and presentation of PoC results; managing compound-related biomarker strategies; collaborating with research scientists to identify preclinical support strategies; and presenting to Health Authorities as the Translational Medicine expert.
You will work independently on study planning and execution, lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organization, and seek innovative clinical discovery opportunities. The role bridges drug discovery and clinical application, playing a pivotal role in bringing innovative medicines to patients.
Required qualifications: MD with clinical subspecialty training in cardiovascular disease or endocrinology/metabolic disease (PhD or post-doctoral research experience preferred). Minimum 1–2 years' pharma/biotech/CRO/academic medical center experience; 5+ years required for Director level. Demonstrated medical and scientific expertise, respected internally and externally, with a strong publication record. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluent in English. Additional consideration for candidates with advanced experience in data science, genetics/genomics, AI applied to clinical research, or digital/wearable health science.
