Saronic Technologies, a leader in autonomous maritime systems for defense applications, is seeking a Training Specialist to own and manage the training function at its Franklin shipyard facility. This role bridges corporate learning and development with on-the-floor production operations, ensuring new hires and existing employees receive consistent, high-quality instruction aligned with safety, compliance, and operational standards. Key responsibilities include: owning the training calendar and logistics for the shipyard; partnering with shipyard leadership and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and design practical, hands-on instruction; adapting corporate training content for site-specific conditions; designing and delivering on-the-job training for welders, fitters, and related production trades covering blueprint reading, layout, assembly, and safe equipment use; delivering required equipment and safety training including Powered Industrial Truck certification and PPE protocols; coaching trainees in real time during hands-on practice and identifying systemic process issues; administering training completion, quality metrics, and learner feedback in the learning management system; and hosting and coordinating local workforce development partners for site visits and third-party training sessions. The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of hands-on experience in aluminum welding, fitting, or related shipbuilding/heavy manufacturing trades, ideally in a training, mentoring, or lead capacity. Required certifications include manufacturing, mariner, welding, and/or electrical credentials. Strong facilitation, writing, editing, project management, and organizational skills are essential. The role requires the ability to translate complex technical content into accessible learning experiences and partner directly with subject matter experts to scope learning objectives. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance are mandatory due to export-controlled information access. Preferred qualifications include experience producing and delivering training in manufacturing or technical environments, LMS administration (Cornerstone preferred), a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or Education, experience creating training for defense/aerospace/autonomous systems, and experience conducting skills gap analyses on production floors.
