In this role, you will join Atomic's broker-dealer trading desk as a hands-on trader making inter-dealer markets in corporate securities. You will be responsible for quoting two-sided markets (bid/offer), executing trades, and managing risk on corporate bond and equity positions in real time. You'll work directly with counterparties to source liquidity, facilitate trades, and help establish day-to-day trading practices, counterparty relationships, and workflows as the desk scales. This is a foundational role where you'll help build out trading infrastructure and processes in a fast-moving environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Quoting and managing risk in real time on corporate securities positions
- Executing trades and managing inventory risk from two-sided market making
- Trading directly with inter-dealer brokers (IDBs) via voice and electronic platforms to source and provide liquidity
- Navigating exchange systems for high-touch trading and risk management
- Ensuring compliance with trade reporting, settlement mechanics, and regulatory rules (FINRA, CAT reporting, best execution)
- Building counterparty relationships and establishing trading workflows
REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Series 57 (Securities Trader Representative) license (required)
- 3–5 years of direct experience in market making and proprietary trading for a broker-dealer in corporate securities
- Hands-on experience making inter-dealer markets in corporate securities
- Deep understanding and application of Reg NMS, SHO, and related regulations
- Demonstrated experience quoting two-sided markets and managing resulting inventory risk
- Experience trading with inter-dealer brokers (IDBs) on voice and electronic platforms
- Solid understanding of trade reporting, settlement mechanics, and regulatory rules governing inter-dealer trading
- Ability to navigate and use exchange systems for high-touch trading and risk management
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where processes are still being built
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Securities lending experience (borrow/loan activity, agent lender relationships, collateral management)
- Repo/reverse repo experience
- Margin lending experience
- S24 license
