Salary: USD 144,500 - 170,000 / annual
As a Threat Intelligence Platform Engineer on Coinbase's Threat Intelligence team within Security Operations, you will own Vertex Synapse in production—the platform that transforms adversary intelligence into detections, blocks, and decisions across the organization. The TI team protects billions of dollars in digital assets by collecting, modeling, and operationalizing intelligence on sophisticated cyber threats targeting the crypto ecosystem.
You will be responsible for maintaining production platform health, including backend operations, cron monitoring, and data hygiene. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining intelligence feed integrations, enrichments, and tagging to ensure new sources are modeled and usable by stakeholders. You will ship intelligence into downstream controls and data pipelines, including detections, blocklists, data warehouses, and agent workflows.
You will partner across Security and Product teams to translate intelligence requirements into production capabilities, and rapidly prototype and implement features, fixes, and tooling as needed by Intelligence Analysts and stakeholders.
Required experience includes 2+ years building and operating threat intelligence platforms or security data pipelines in production environments. You should have software development experience in Python, Go, and/or Storm, with demonstrated ability to deploy production-quality code with CI/CD ownership post-deployment. Experience ingesting, modeling, tagging, and lifecycle-managing indicators and intelligence data at scale is essential. You must have a track record of troubleshooting and restoring production systems, driving root-cause fixes to prevent recurrence. Cross-functional stakeholder translation within security operations context is required. The role also values responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable workflow improvements.
