Mirum Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on rare diseases, is seeking a Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) for the Liver portfolio based in Grand Rapids, MI. This role combines strategic account management with clinical expertise to drive business performance and patient impact across an assigned territory. You will develop deep clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases and Mirum's Liver portfolio. Your responsibilities include identifying and prioritizing high-opportunity customers and referral networks, executing customized account plans that advance disease awareness and appropriate patient identification, and driving treatment initiation and persistence in accordance with approved indications. Key responsibilities span five areas: **Territory Strategy & Business Performance:** Develop and execute a focused territory business plan aligned with national and regional priorities. Use performance data, customer insights, and market intelligence to identify opportunities and adjust strategy. Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, and administrative documentation. **Strategic Account Management & Network Development:** Identify and develop high-opportunity accounts across pediatric and adult hepatology and gastroenterology. Create customized account plans reflecting local patient journeys, key stakeholders, and referral patterns. Build trusted relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, and care team members. Map influence and decision-making within complex accounts. **Clinical Aptitude & Customer Engagement:** Develop deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease, diagnostic pathways, mechanisms of action, clinical data, product profiles, approved uses, safety information, and the competitive landscape. Communicate complex scientific information clearly and credibly, tailored to each healthcare professional. Engage as a clinically credible peer through insightful questioning and active listening. **Influence & Impact:** Help customers recognize gaps in disease awareness, patient identification, and treatment consideration. Use emotional intelligence, curiosity, and thoughtful questioning to build trust with change-resistant professionals. Influence multiple stakeholders without authority and navigate resistance constructively. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Build productive partnerships with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, and Analytics. Coordinate account strategy across field roles and capture actionable field insights that inform strategy and execution. The ideal candidate is not a transactional seller but a clinically credible, insight-led partner who engages healthcare professionals as a peer, asks thoughtful questions, and constructively challenges clinical inertia. **REQUIREMENTS:** - Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred - 5+ years of progressive sales experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry - Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering business results in complex specialty, rare disease, orphan drug, or high-science markets - Rare disease experience highly preferred; experience in hepatology, gastroenterology, pediatric specialty care, or complex specialty markets highly desirable - Strong clinical aptitude with demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and communicate complex disease-state, diagnostic, mechanism-of-action, clinical-data, and product information - Experience with account-based selling across health systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary care teams, and referral networks - Demonstrated ability to use insight-led or challenger-style selling to challenge status quo and influence customer decision-making - Working knowledge of access and reimbursement dynamics, patient support pathways, and patient services in rare disease markets - Strong business acumen and ability to interpret performance data, develop territory and account strategies, and execute plans - Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, communication, presentation, and judgment - Proven self-motivation, resourcefulness, resilience, organization, and ability to prioritize independently in fast-moving environments - Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, and Analytics - Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices - Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 70%, including frequent overnight travel and occasional weekend commitments
