CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Test Engineer II to join our dynamic, cross-functional team in a hands-on role designing and executing test plans and test equipment for space and airborne electronics.
In this position, you will play a broad technical role spanning test plan authorship, test PCB design, and extensive lab work assembling and testing cutting-edge phased array systems and components. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to address company-wide hardware test needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design test plans for board-level electronic assemblies, collaborating with design engineers
- Execute tests in the electronics lab, including functional testing, digital signal integrity verification, and power converter control loop measurements
- Execute multi-board assembly testing, such as functional testing of complex phased array systems
- Design test fixtures or equipment, including custom PCBs for test or integration purposes
- Plan integration of multiple prototype modules
- Assemble complex test setups, working with design engineers and technicians
- Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues
- Evaluate and document test results, presenting findings to key stakeholders
The ideal candidate is strong in electronics and test theory as well as hands-on lab work, with industry exposure to measurement techniques, test architectures, and automation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university
- 2 years of relevant industry or research experience covering several of the listed responsibilities
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, LabVIEW, SQL, MATLAB, or Embedded C)
- Experience designing and executing test plans for custom board-level electronics
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments (digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry experience in test engineering, such as internships
- Python programming or scripting experience
- Board-level hardware design
- Aerospace industry experience
- EMI/EMC test design and execution
- Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware (amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas)
