You'll join the UK Loans team as a PHP Engineer within an engineering organization of 200+ talented engineers. The role offers significant ownership from day one, working in small teams of exceptional people on high-impact problems. Your responsibilities will include building and integrating new APIs to enhance the customer journey, optimizing lending platforms, and participating in deep architectural discussions. You'll work across the full stack of modern financial systems, from backend infrastructure to customer-facing features.
The tech stack is modern and well-maintained: PHP 8, Symfony 7, AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD for CI/CD. The team practices rapid deployment—features go to production as soon as they're complete. Testing is a core practice with Behat, PHPUnit, and comprehensive test coverage (unit, integration, functional).

**REQUIREMENTS**
Essential:
- 5+ years of professional experience with PHP
- Strong, business-oriented engineer with modern PHP development experience (PHP 8.0+ is mandatory)
- High degree of ownership and autonomy
- Good understanding of Symfony framework
- Strong automatic testing skills (unit, integration, functional, Behat)
Desirable:
- Experience with Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems, and Event Sourcing
- Experience working on financial systems
- Keen desire to learn and contribute to a highly collaborative team
