Valon is a Series C AI company building an AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. The company manages $110+ billion in loans and has transformed mortgage servicing margins from 0% to 60%+ while improving customer experience. As a Technical Recruiter, you'll own the full lifecycle of recruiting for critical technical hires across engineering, product, and data roles. This is not a transactional req-filling role—you'll build recruiting as a system, using AI and data to drive outcomes rather than activity metrics. Key responsibilities include: sourcing and closing world-class technical talent with speed and precision; partnering strategically with hiring managers by bringing market intelligence and pushing back on misaligned expectations; crafting compelling narratives about Valon's counterintuitive thesis (building the full stack for regulated finance) to attract exceptional engineers; obsessing over candidate experience at every touchpoint; and actively experimenting with AI tools for sourcing, personalization, pipeline analysis, and workflow automation. You'll also own recruiting infrastructure: drafting job descriptions, refining interview loops, creating sourcing playbooks, and building dashboards. Everything you build should be repeatable, measurable, and compounding. You bring a proven track record closing technical roles in high-growth or complex environments; a portfolio of concrete AI experimentation (tools tested, workflows automated, results measured); high agency and ownership; the ability to translate complex regulated businesses into talent narratives; sharp pattern recognition for technical excellence; resilience through rejection and ambiguity; strong data instincts; and communication skills that build trust. This role is not for you if you view AI as optional, run outdated sourcing playbooks, wait for direction instead of forming conviction, measure success by activity rather than outcomes, or need fully built processes to be effective. Valon is still building its recruiting function, and you'll be central to that build.
