Mercor is a Series C AI data company ($10B valuation) that organizes human intelligence to power the AI economy. The company operates a platform where millions of domain experts train frontier AI models, generating over $4M in daily payouts. Mercor also serves enterprise clients through its infrastructure offering. As a Technical Recruiter, you will own full-cycle hiring across critical engineering functions, reporting to and partnering directly with the VP of Engineering and CTO. This is a foundational role in scaling the engineering organization during rapid growth. Key responsibilities include: sourcing and closing candidates across software engineering, machine learning, infrastructure, and leadership roles; collaborating with engineering leadership to define headcount plans and hiring standards; building top-of-funnel through creative outbound, talent intelligence, and Mercor's proprietary assessment tools (structured screens, automated work samples, calibrated rubrics); designing assessments that predict on-the-job performance; coaching hiring managers on structured interviewing and decision quality; operationalizing hiring systems and tracking key metrics (pass-through rates, time-in-stage, source yield); driving speed and quality with same-day debriefs and fast offers; building employer brand through campaigns, referrals, and events; representing Mercor externally to top technical candidates; and collaborating on dashboards and process automation within Ashby and other recruiting platforms. You should have proven experience with full-cycle recruiting across individual contributor and leadership roles, deep familiarity with technical roles (SWE, MLE, Applied AI, Security, Infrastructure, TLM), and a track record of building and scaling hiring systems with data-driven decision-making. Strong communication skills and ability to work efficiently with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams are essential. You'll be a visible brand ambassador for Mercor to top candidates. Nice-to-haves include founding technical recruiter or early-stage startup experience, interest in human data/AGI space, and a technical background or engineering experience. Mercor operates in-person five days per week from San Francisco, NYC, or London offices.
