Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that construct solar farms. The company addresses a critical labor bottleneck in solar installation—one-fifth of all US solar capacity was installed last year, yet construction companies cannot keep up with demand. Charge has already shipped its first commercial system and is scaling operations to meet surging demand.
As Technical Project Manager, you will own the end-to-end project plan and schedule for a major initiative: adapting the Sunrise system for a new deployment, taking it through an engineering development cycle and international field deployment. You will serve as the connective tissue across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, and field teams, ensuring the complex, multi-workstream effort stays on schedule and meets specifications from design through deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the end-to-end project plan and schedule, coordinating across commercial, leadership, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field teams
- Driving the design adaptation cycle for the new system, tracking requirements, design reviews, and milestones from concept through production readiness
- Collaborating with supply chain to manage external vendors and contract manufacturers to meet timelines, deliverables, and quality requirements
- Planning and coordinating international deployment logistics (freight, mobilization, on-site readiness) in partnership with field, engineering, and customer teams
- Maintaining clear visibility of risks, dependencies, and critical path; surfacing tradeoffs and keeping stakeholders aligned on status and decisions
Charge is MIT-founded and backed by top-tier investors including Founders Fund, Energy Impact Partners, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator (S21). The company emphasizes learning, growth, and significant equity compensation. You will have direct impact on product direction and the company's mission to accelerate the transition to renewable energy.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of technical program or project management experience, ideally with complex hardware systems
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with a track record of driving alignment across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and external partners
- Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity in a fast-paced, rapidly growing startup environment
- Based in or able to relocate to the SF Bay Area; able to work 4-5 days/week from San Leandro HQ
- Open to travel, including international, to support manufacturing and deployment
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience managing international hardware deployments or working with overseas vendors and logistics
- Familiarity with solar, robotics, or construction industries
- Motivation to directly impact climate change by accelerating renewable energy transition
