Halter is a venture-backed agtech company transforming livestock grazing through innovative hardware (collars and towers) that enables farmers and graziers to manage cattle without traditional fencing, quad bikes, or dogs. As Field Operations Specialist, you will be one of the first hardware technicians on the ground in Australia, building operational systems from scratch and ensuring Halter's hardware infrastructure runs smoothly. This is a hands-on role combining field service, technical troubleshooting, and operational development. Key responsibilities include: - Infrastructure maintenance: oversee upkeep and repair of on-farm infrastructure - Hardware diagnosis: troubleshoot and diagnose issues with collars and towers, escalating to engineering teams - Deployment support: assist with farm installations, troubleshoot deployment issues, ensure customer success - Field insights: collect and communicate learnings from the field to product and engineering teams to inform development priorities - On-call support: participate in global on-call roster for tower-related incidents - Data analysis: collect, interpret, and analyze hardware data to optimize processes and identify issues proactively - Maintenance system development: help build and manage maintenance protocols tailored to the Australian market - Cross-team collaboration: work with teams across Australia and Halter's Auckland HQ - Travel: expect 3-4 days per week on the road visiting producers across Australia, with occasional overnight stays You will be the go-to person on the ground, taking ownership of problems and driving solutions. The role requires comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage market entry, where systems and processes are still being built. Requirements: - Hands-on practical experience with tools, electrical work, construction, networking, or equipment fitting - Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset; comfortable figuring things out independently - Strong communication skills to translate field observations into clear, actionable feedback for remote teams - Self-directed time management; ability to complete tasks on schedule without supervision - Ability to work effectively across different locations and time zones - Comfort with ambiguity and imperfection in early-stage operations - Commitment to delivering excellent service and maintaining infrastructure standards - Willingness to travel regularly and handle spontaneous travel across the region
