Astranis is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead the end-to-end technical execution of a next-generation relay capability for USG Government, delivering Ka-band space-to-space relay services. Reporting to the Director of USG Program Management, you will drive technical baseline execution across all program phases—from concept maturation through spacecraft production, ground network deployment, launch, and on-orbit demonstration.
Key responsibilities include: developing and maintaining the Integrated Master Schedule and tracking critical Technical Performance Metrics (RF link margins, spacecraft mass/power, latency, pointing accuracy); leading technical preparation and delivery for major customer milestone gates (System Design Reviews, Demonstration Readiness Review, Demonstration Performance Validation Review); owning systems engineering and technical baseline management, including decomposing Government Service Requirements into actionable segment- and unit-level requirements; leading program-level verification and validation strategy across space, ground, and operations segments; managing compliance against Government environmental standards and coordinating pre-launch RF compatibility testing; and supporting Mission Operations through launch, GEO injection, on-orbit commissioning, and customer service execution.
You will partner closely with the Program Manager, Technical Director, and segment leads across Systems Engineering & Integration, Space Segment, Ground Segment, and Mission Operations. This role requires both customer-facing engagement and deep technical collaboration with Astranis engineering teams to ensure program excellence. You will also drive continuous improvement across USG program management processes and toolsets as the mission portfolio expands.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline; 7+ years of technical program management, project management, or systems engineering leadership in aerospace, defense, or commercial space systems; demonstrated track record leading requirements flow-down, ICD development, technical budget tracking, trade studies, and end-to-end V&V campaigns for complex spaceflight systems; proven experience managing U.S. Government (NASA, DoD, or IC) spaceflight programs through formal review gates (SRR, PDR, CDR, DRR, ORR) and formal deliverable lifecycles (DRDs/CDRLs); proven ability to drive cross-functional engineering teams in rapid, agile, vertically integrated hardware development environments; exceptional written and verbal presentation skills for communicating complex technical baselines to Government stakeholders; U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR/EAR compliance); Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Bonus experience includes direct involvement with NASA SCaN, TDRSS, CSP, or NextSTEP programs.
