OpenAI's Applied AI Engineering (AIE) team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead planning, execution, and operations of programs across the global AIE organization. This role combines hands-on program ownership with strategic influence, managing a prioritized portfolio of global initiatives spanning regions and customer segments.
You will own end-to-end delivery for AIE programs, including project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, regional rollouts, leadership updates, and performance tracking. You'll co-own industry strategy with AIE and go-to-market leaders, synthesizing customer and field feedback to identify recurring workflows, adoption barriers, and high-impact use cases. You'll partner across regions to identify operational bottlenecks, work with leadership to prioritize actions and align resources, and drive resolution.
Key responsibilities include designing reusable technical industry workshops that regional teams can adapt; coordinating with hyperscaler and ecosystem partners on joint use cases and go-to-market execution; owning the roadmap and quality of API demos, technical blueprints, and field enablement playbooks; designing and running field-wide technical campaigns to move customers from discovery toward adoption; and building AIE's internal operating mechanisms, tooling, dashboards, and success metrics to improve team effectiveness and inform priorities.
You'll navigate ambiguity, influence without formal authority, and communicate clearly with technical, field, partner, and executive audiences across regions and functions. This role offers the opportunity to inform AIE priorities and industry strategy while scaling successful approaches globally.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 10+ years of technology-industry experience with a track record in technical program management, technical strategy, technical GTM, industry programs, or technology consulting. Experience at hyperscalers, independent software vendors (ISVs), or consulting firms is preferred.
- Demonstrated success driving technical sales motions and field-wide campaigns with measurable customer adoption or business results.
- Strong technical fluency in AI, APIs, cloud platforms, and enterprise deployment tradeoffs, with experience scoping use cases and shaping technical demos, prototypes, workshops, or reference implementations with engineers.
- Ability to turn customer and field signals into clear industry point of view, distinguish repeatable needs from one-off requests, and prioritize investments.
- Experience partnering with hyperscalers or technology ecosystems on joint solutions, technical enablement, or go-to-market programs.
- Experience building and managing internal workflows or tooling that teams use daily, using automation and AI-powered business intelligence tools to reduce manual work, build dashboards, define success metrics, and drive decisions from adoption and program-performance data.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale global initiatives from design through multi-region rollout and ongoing operations, balancing shared standards with local needs.
